Statement on 4.1 Earthquake in Sacramento County

Published:

Around 9:30 a.m. this morning, Sacramento County experienced a 4.1 magnitude earthquake. Preliminary reports do not indicate any significant damage or injuries following the earthquake. While the situation is fluid, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) continues to actively coordinate with local partners to evaluate if there are any damages.

On a positive note we do have data showing close to 390,000 individuals received advance notifications before shaking started through the state’s Earthquake Early Warning System which worked very well on this incident.

This is especially relevant given tomorrow is the Great ShakeOut Day, where millions of Californians will drop, cover and hold on in an effort to be more earthquake aware.
