Over 16,000 firefighters continue to battle 18 major fires and lightning complexes across California.
Fire engines and firefighters are needed on the front-lines to control the massive wildland fires that are occurring in Northern California, specifically for the North Complex Fire in Plumas and Lassen Counties.
The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Fire and Rescue Division put out a request for fire personnel to staff S.A.F.E. Act (State Assistance for Fire Equipment) engines.
One Strike Team and one single resource departed Cal OES on Sunday afternoon to respond to the North Complex where they will be assigned to structure defense and perimeter control operations.
A Strike Team Leader, Strike Team Leader Trainee and four firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, four firefighters from the Downey Fire Department and four firefighters from the La Habra Heights Fire Department were flown from Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos to Mather Field by the National Guard to meet up with eight firefighters from the San Francisco Fire Department.
Additionally, Los Angeles County Fire also provided four firefighters for the Cal OES Type III engine assigned to LA County as the Single Resource.
The firefighters will be assigned to the fire for 14 days.
