California’s Law Enforcement Coordination in Advance of Presidential Inauguration

In preparation for the Presidential Inauguration on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, the Cal OES Law Enforcement Operations Center (LEOC) is actively coordinating with state and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety leading up to and during the event.

Cal OES Law Enforcement Branch Chief Mark Pazin on coordinated public safety efforts:

LEOC is partnering with the California Highway Patrol, California State Parks, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, State Attorney General, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, California National Guard, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Homeland Security.

Chief Mark Pazin on protections in place statewide:

Cal OES Law Enforcement Division has been in close contact with Regional Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Coordinators/Sheriffs and Police Chiefs over the past weeks to ensure for timely information sharing and resource coordination.

Chief Mark Pazin on mutual aid safety system:

The LEOC is coordinating closely with the State Threat Assessment Center (STAC) and the California Cyber Security Integration Center (CalCSIC) to gather intelligence and share in real-time with partner agencies and local/regional entities as warranted.

Chief Mark Pazin on the STAC operations:

To ensure for a coordinated, timely, and effective allocation of resources, requests for law enforcement mutual aid, or for any other state assistance, including the National Guard, should flow from the local government to the Operational Area (County), up to the Region and then to Cal OES Headquarters.
