With More Winter Weather on the Way, Cal OES Prepositions Fire Personnel and Equipment in Multiple Counties

As another winter storm moves through the state, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is taking proactive steps to keep people safe and has strategically prepositioned fire personnel in multiple counties to be able to respond if needed. 

The prepositioned fire resources include:

 Lake County: 

  • 3 Local Government Engines, Type 3 
  • 1 Local Government Engine, Type 6 
  • 1 Local Government Loader 
  • 1 Local Government IMT Member 

Monterey County: 

  • 5 Local Government Engines, Type 3 
  • 9 Local Government IMT Members 

Napa County: 

  • 3 Local Government Engines, Type 3 
  • 2 Local Government Engines, Type 6 
  • 1 Local Government Loader 
  • 1 Local Government IMT Member 

Sonoma County: 

  • 9 Local Government Engines, Type 3 
  • 1 Local Government Engine, Type 6 
  • 3 Local Government Dispatchers 
  • 4 Local Government IMT Members 
  • 1 Local Government Swift Water Rescue Team, Type 3 

Glenn County: 

  • 5 Local Government Engines 
  • 2 Local Government IMT Members 

Tulare County:

  • 1 Local Government Swift Water Rescue Team, Type 2 
  • 14 Local Government IMT Members 

The Cal OES Fire and Rescue Branch facilitates the California Fire and Rescue Mutual Aid System, which includes moving more than 270 fire engines from 60 local government resources across the state in support of all-risk emergency response on behalf of local, state and federal government fire organizations.

Cal OES assigns local government fire agencies with fire apparatus to maintain surge capacity during day-to-day duties and major emergencies.
