Shining a Spotlight on Staff – I am Cal OES Video Series – Danielle Jessup, Senior Emergency Services Coordinator

Over the past several years, the state has experienced an unprecedented number of emergencies and disasters. As these climate-driven natural disasters become more severe in California, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) staff has met each new challenge head-on.

The nearly 2,000 staff at Cal OES have responded to increasingly complex disasters in fresh and innovative ways, strengthening the foundation of emergency management to prepare for, respond to and recover from all types of emergencies and disasters.

This week, Cal OES welcomes you to learn more about Danielle Jessup, a Senior Emergency Services Coordinator in the Situation Cell Unit within the Headquarters Response Directorate. As a liaison to investor-owned utility (IOU) companies, Danielle helps IOUs develop and implement their notification processes during an emergency.

Her work is vital to ensuring response partners receive the support they need and that Californians are properly notified by their utility companies when the power goes out. Whether it’s due to a disaster, extreme heat or other climate driven impacts, Danielle stands ready to support external partners as well as the State Operations Center for a swift response.

“The reason why I came to Cal OES is because they are so crucial during an emergency,” said Danielle. “Keeping Californians is safe is our mission and I’m excited to be a part of that.”
