Shining a Spotlight on Staff – I am Cal OES Nic Luncsford, Senior Emergency Services Coordinator, Situation Cell

Over the past several years, the state has experienced an unprecedented number of emergencies and disasters. As these climate-driven natural disasters become more severe in California, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) staff has met each new challenge head-on.

The nearly 2,000 staff at Cal OES have responded to increasingly complex disasters in fresh and innovative ways, strengthening the foundation of emergency management to prepare for, respond to and recover from all types of emergencies and disasters.

This week, Cal OES welcomes you to learn more about Nic Luncsford, a Senior Emergency Services Coordinator in the Situation Cell Unit. As an intelligence lead, Nic helps with the analysis and identification of the threats throughout the state.

His work is vital to ensuring that any threat, whether natural disaster, civil disruptions, or anything that puts at risk the safety of Californians, is reported on and supports external partners as well as the State Operations Center for a swift response.

“You get to go home at the end of the day and know that you did a good job and that you had a lasting effect on these disasters.” Nic said. “I think being part of that mission is just what gets me up in the morning.”
