Recruitment Announcement: State Operations Center Director and Deputy Director


The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is recruiting for the Director and Deputy Director of Cal OES’ State Operations Center.

These positions will oversee emergency response operations at Cal OES, while working directly with permanently assigned staff during an activation. This team helps strengthen California’s emergency capacity and capabilities to respond to increasingly challenging disasters, security threats, and emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the leadership and direction of critical response efforts.
  • Leads staff to coordinate the completion of actions review/improvement plans upon the conclusion of activations.
  • Applies working knowledge of disaster response operations and lessons learned identified in actions review/improvement plans.

Cal OES serves as the state’s leadership hub during all major emergencies and disasters. This includes responding, directing, and coordinating state and federal resources and mutual aid assets across all regions to support the diverse communities across the state.
