This annual holiday serves as a timely reminder of the remarkable contributions our dedicated professional workers make to our society, often working behind the scenes to ensure our safety, security and resiliency.

Every part of our daily lives in touched by the hard work and contribution of transportation workers who keep roads open, first responders that keep us protected, emergency managers who keep us safe and nurses and doctors who keep us healthy.

The dedication displayed by first responders and emergency managers is truly commendable. California has navigated through some of the biggest crises in recent years, ensuring that essential services continued.

Cal OES would like to take a moment to acknowledge and honor the sacrifices these workers make. The late hours, physical exertion and mental strain does not go unnoticed, and their contributions are the bedrock of California’s resiliency. Happy Labor Day!
