Members of the Emmy-award winning CBS show “One Day at a Time” and state health expert Dr. Diana Ramos share important tips and information on how to have safe family holidays in the time of COVID-19

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (November 24, 2020) — With more than 450,000 COVID cases among Latinx in California who represent 40% of the population, but 60% of the cases, sharing information to stay safe, particularly at the holidays, is vital.

In this new InformaGente episode for families, executive producer of the CBS comedy-drama “One Day at Time” Gloria Calderón Kellett gathered members of her cast including the iconic Rita Moreno, along with Todd Grinnell and Isabella Gomez, for a conversation with the California Department of Public Health’s Dr. Diana Ramos about how to enjoy the holidays as safely as possible.

Calderón and the cast asked Dr. Ramos the questions that are on everyone’s mind, covering issues including how many people it’s safe to gather with in-person, how long people can safely gather, whether it is best to gather inside or outside, and whether it is smart to travel this year.

The cast and Dr. Ramos also share their own fun, safe alternate holiday plans for their own families. Rita Moreno talks about forgoing a large gathering and hunkering down with immediate family in her bubble. Todd Grinnell may Facetime for hours with his family back East, whereas Isabella Gomez will cook up Colombian treats with her parents. And Gloria Calderón Kellett will cook Cuban specialties while her son and nephew connect virtually to build with LEGOs in their respective homes.

The Spanish-language version features Rita Moreno talking one-on-one with Dr. Ramos.
