Justin Knighten Sworn-in as FEMA Director of External Affairs

Mr. Justin Knighten was sworn-in today as the Director of External Affairs for FEMA. Mr. Knighten brings over 15 years of public affairs experience which includes extensive expertise in communications strategy and execution in areas such as public affairs, media relations, and in digital environments. He most recently served as Co-Chair of Governor Gavin Newsom’s Listos California Emergency Preparedness Campaign and prior to that as Director of Strategic Communications and External Affairs at California Volunteers, in the Office of the Governor. Mr. Knighten has also served as Media and Public Affairs Director at the Harvey Milk Foundation; Senior Vice President and Founding Member of Lucas Public Affairs; and a Legislative Analyst Assistant for the California Environmental Protection Agency.
