Planning for Accessibility During Evacuations 1. Sign up for emergency alerts! You can sign up for alerts on the website of your local city or county. 2. Create an emergency evacuation plan. Your plan should have at least 5 dependable people in it, who you can contact in case of an emergency to assist you. 3. If told to evacuate by local law enforcement or emergency managers, do not wait, leave right away. Shelters are set up to be accessible and to provide services such as interpretation and transportation.
