SACRAMENTO — The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) today announced the recent payments totaling $1,423,317 in California Disaster Assistance Act (CDAA) funding to help Butte County cover costs related to the repair of highways damaged in the 2018 Camp Fire and the February 2017 Storms.

The bulk of the state funding — $1,106,038 – is related to roadway repairs and restoration of the Skyway in conjunction with damages caused by the Camp Fire. Included in the $1,106,038 is $1,005,489, which represents the state’s 75% share of the $1,340,562 in eligible project costs not covered by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and $100,549 to help the county cover administrative costs related to the project.

CDAA payments are provided based on actual costs incurred by the county and provided by the state as work is completed and as documentation and requests for payment are submitted to Cal OES.  Then Acting Governor Gavin Newsom’s State of Emergency Proclamation on November 8, 2018, made the county eligible for CDAA funding. A major disaster declaration two days later made the county eligible for federal disaster assistance.

In addition to the $1,106,038 in CDAA funds authorized to reimburse Butte County for roadway repairs and restoration of the Skyway, Cal OES approved $317,279 in CDAA funds to help the county cover costs related to the repair of roadway damages on Oro Bangor Highway caused by the February 2017 storms.

Included in the $317,279 is $288,436 to cover the state’s 75% share of project costs not covered by the FHWA and $28,843 to help the county cover its project-related administrative costs.

Former Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.’s State of Emergency Proclamation on March 19, 2017, made the county eligible for CDAA funding. A major disaster declaration on April 1, 2017, made the county eligible for federal disaster assistance.
