Ahead of Increased Snowmelt, Cal OES Prepositions Swiftwater Rescue Personnel in Inyo County

With warmer temperatures expected this weekend, melting high mountain snowpack could increase flows in creeks, streams and rivers along the east slopes of the southern Sierra. To help keep Californians safe, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is proactively coordinating the prepositioning of swiftwater rescue personnel to be available if needed.

The public is urged to remain aware of their surrounding conditions and reminded to have an emergency plan in place and emergency preparedness kits at home. Sign-up for emergency alerts, listen to local authorities and warnings, and be prepared to evacuate if necessary.
