After the hottest month of June on record in the United States and the National Weather Service issuing multiple Excessive Heat Warnings lasting through Monday, July 12, 2021, regions across California are bracing for another round of record-setting temperatures.
The California Independent System Operator (ISO) has also issued a Flex Alert for Monday, July 12, 2021. With electric transmission lines from Oregon still unreliable due to the Bootleg Fire and continued high temperatures across the West, California ISO is forecasting increased demand for electricity.
Here’s a list of cooling centers open statewide, with updates denoted (**). You can also check the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Cooling Centers Dashboard for real-time information. Stay cool and conserve!
