With fall in full swing, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) encourages all Californians to be prepared year-round for disasters and emergencies. As wildfire activity continues, it’s essential to be prepared for all situations. It’s also important to note that some of the largest and most destructive fires have occurred during the fall months, including the 2020 Creek Fire and the 2018 Camp Fire.
Be proactive now. Talk with friends and loved ones. Create a go-bag that contains some essential items you may need if you have to evacuate.
BUILD A GO-BAG
- Non-perishable food and bottled water
- Cash
- Cell phone charger
- Medications
- Important documents
- First aid kit
- Pet supplies
- Food/Water
- Collar/Leash
- Carrier
- Vaccine information
After building your go-bag, keep it in a place that’s easy to remember in case you need to leave quickly. Maintain your go-bag by replacing expired items and re-thinking your needs every year.
